Intro

Hey - you've found my personal landing page - that's great!

So what can you expect to find here? Actually not much - just a little about myself:
who I am, what I do for work, how I spend my spare time and finally a way to get in contact with me.

Who I am

Your mind is a powerful thing.
When you fill it with positive thoughts, your life will start to change.

To be honest I don't know who I got this quote from but it fits quite well with my thinking. I'm a positive person and also focus on seeing the positive side of other people.

I was born in Graz, Austria but moved to Guatemala with my whole family when I was 8 years old. For sure the time I had spent there until graduadion from high school has influenced my life (hopefully in a positive way :) After a year at Northwood University in Michigan/USA I moved back to Austria where I had studied Telematics.

Already during my study time I had started working in the Aviation industry at ADB Safegate Austria (at that time still known as AviBit). See my Work page for more details).

I'm happily married and have two lovely kids (two boys with lots of energy). If you're also interested in what I do in my spare time check out my Spare time page.

And just in case I haven't mentioned it: I'm quite a friendly and open-minded person, and I enjoy eating (lots of) good food :)

Work

I have worked 20 years in the Aviation business (Software Solutions for Air Traffic Control - to be more precise) as an employee of ADB Safegate Austria. I've gone through many different roles during that time, ranging from software development, project management, technical sales engineering, product management, and R&D department lead.

In 2023 I have decided to switch my focus from being an employee to a more entrepreneurial approach, being co-founder and CTO of a new Startup in the "Green Energy Industry" (more details to follow at a later stage), while at the same time still continue supporting ADB Safegate, just on a different contractual basis.

Also, resulting out of my own interest to ensure best health for myself and my family, I have decided to become Independent Business Partner of Eqology, a Norwegian-based company offering high quality, test-based health supplement products like the Pure Arctic Oil - Omega-3.

Spare Time

As you might already guess from the pictures my biggest passion is being at (or below) the sea. Unfortunately I don't get too many chances but every time I do, I absorb every minute of it. The picture to the left shows the first free-diving experiences of my younger son. I personally love snorkling, diving, free-diving or just inhaling the smell of the sea.

Another thing which I really enjoy is photography. Be it portraits, nature, travel, underwater - you name it - this is often a very nice balance to work, and it also facilitates creativity. At home I have set up my own photo studio but unfortunately only find little time at the moment to make use of it. If you would like to get a glance of my photographic work you might want to check out my Photography Portfolio. I'll try to publish new pictures there every now and then.

A great enabler for the two items listed above is travelling. Be it on my business trips or when travelling with my family, it's always a great experience getting to know new places and cultures. I have planned to set up a website in the future for sharing my travel experiences and passing on various travel tips but this will still take some time.

When I was still young(er) I had earned my pocket money as a tennis instructor. Nowadays it's a pure hobby to be shared with friends and family and sometimes competing on local competitions which encourages me to keep up a certain level.
You can also easily convince me to participate at many other kinds of (especially ball-based) sports, like volleyball (which I've played for quite long), ping pong, golf, etc.

A rather new experience is the a joint app development with my brother and my dad for an app called Animals of Costa Rica. Both my dad and my brother are passionate biologists and photographers at the same time. They contribute most of the scientific content and photos while my main focus lies on building the bridge between the end user and an external development company. Well, and since I'm always looking for new experiences and challenges I might end up with adding for instance "surfing" to my list of hobbies - but that's not decided yet. Could be anything else as well :)
I'm certainly eager to learn new things whenever time allows.
